Snow and Ice Removal
Living in Minnesota has its advantages and disadvantages. One of those disadvantages is the rough winters. Snow and ice and the melting of snow and ice can cause major problems to many portions of your home. That’s why Walker Roofing offers snow and ice removal services. Read below to find out how your home can be damaged by ice dams and then see how Walker can prevent this damage from occurring.

What is an ice dam?

An ice dam is a ridge of ice that forms at the edge of a roof and prevents melting snow (water) from draining off the roof. The water that backs up behind the dam can leak into a home and cause damage to walls, ceilings, insulation and other areas. See diagram above:

What can we do? Each winter season, Walker gets hundreds of calls from people needing to have snow removed from their roof. Our advice: better to call us and have experts remove the snow than risk damage to your roof or personal health. We are very careful to avoid damaging the roof when we remove ice and snow. Our expertise in snow removal is achieved by the following:

  • Using equipment designed to prevent damage to shingles
  • Using specially made snow rakes and shovels
  • Using proper knowledge and expertise of snow removal
  • Using a plant safe ice remover for removal of ice
  • Using a steamer to melt ice from your roof
